Schemes

India’s agricultural sector receives major support through various government schemes aimed at empowering farmers, enhancing income, and promoting sustainable growth.

From direct income support to crop insurance, irrigation development, organic farming promotion, and rural employment, these schemes play a vital role in improving the livelihoods of millions of farmers.

Here are some of the most important and trending agricultural schemes you should know about:

Government Schemes in Agriculture

  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN): A flagship income support scheme offering ₹6,000 annually to eligible small and marginal farmers in three equal installments. It ensures direct benefit transfer (DBT) to their bank accounts.
  • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): A comprehensive crop insurance scheme that protects farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases. It offers low premium rates for both Rabi and Kharif crops.
  • Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme: The KCC scheme provides timely and affordable credit to farmers for crop production, post-harvest needs, and allied agricultural activities like dairy and poultry farming.
  • Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY): Focuses on “Har Khet Ko Pani“, aiming to enhance water-use efficiency by expanding irrigation coverage and encouraging micro-irrigation like drip and sprinkler systems.
  • Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM-KMY): A pension scheme for small and marginal farmers. On reaching the age of 60, enrolled farmers receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000.
  • Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY): Encourages organic farming through cluster-based certification programs and capacity building for natural farming practices.
  • Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS): Supports farmers by reducing interest rates on short-term crop loans to ensure easy and affordable credit access.
  • Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF): A central sector scheme providing medium- to long-term debt financing for projects like cold storage, warehouses, and primary processing centers via interest subvention and credit guarantees.
  • Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY): This scheme aims to skill rural youth, especially from farming families, by providing them with training and job placement in the agri and non-agri sectors.
  • Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA): While not exclusive to agriculture, MGNREGA provides wage employment to rural households for labor-intensive agricultural and land development work.

These government schemes can help farmers boost productivity, secure financial support, and adopt sustainable agricultural practices. Scroll below to explore how IndiaFarm is committed to keeping you updated with the latest scheme updates, eligibility criteria, and application procedures.
